Mycotoxins in the rainy season

Rainy-season humidity is a feed-quality problem as much as a weather problem. Moulds can grow in ingredients that sit warm and damp, and mycotoxins put animal health and output at risk.

What to control first

• Keep ingredients dry and off the floor
• Ventilate stores so moisture does not sit in the pile
• Use older stock first and discard obviously mouldy lots
